Welcome to a New Year

I ended last year and started this one thinking about how much photography is embedded in who I am. It doesn’t define me, but it’s definitely woven deeply in my soul. It’s how I see and relate to everything; from the most poignant & breathtaking moments, to awe-inspiring, mind-expanding flashes.

2016 was a HUGE learning year for me. Not only did my business really take off, but I myself learned so much about business and photography. I had soo many wonderful opportunities brought to the plate last year, I can only imagine what 2017 is going to bring for CMP.

Here are a few changes and happenings for this coming year....

I am going to be very involved in youth sports for our local school this year.  That is a game changer, (no pun intended). I never thought I would be standing on the field taking photos of these kids, but there I am, and I LOVE every moment. Even in the heat, the cold and rain....I love it. I love these kids too.  They taught me what it is to have passion and determination for what you do, to accomplish everything with a big heart.

Welcome to my new website!  Like it?  I worked hard on it! This website is AWESOME!  It allows you to easily navigate to order a session, prints and product and to get here to the blog.

I will also be posting videos here for you to see behind the scenes!! Want to know what it is like for me to stand on the sidelines of a football playoff game, or what goes into a creek session?  How about how I interact with my clients? You will get my point of view this year!

Each month there will be a special studio session that is highly discounted for those that maybe can't afford high end photographers, but desire the creativity and work that they put out. I mean, I couldn't afford me on a normal basis. My philosophy is this.  Everyone needs to have a family photo on their wall that when they walk into the room, it makes them instantly smile. I want to provide that for you.

I will also be donating a lot this year to fundraisers. I usually only do 3 a year, but this year I want to do more. I will also have a contest mid-July to win a spot for a REINDEER session. Not sure how it is going to work yet, but all the proceeds will go towards a charity of my choice. Maybe a raffle, a contest, ...Still throwing ideas around.

I will have a monthly newsletter. If you are a previous client and I have your email, you will get it.  It will help everyone keep up to date with what is going on, I will give you a special pointer each month, and more. I look forward to writing this each month. If you want on the mailing list, send me your email!

This blog is new too! Make sure to come back each month for photography tips, to see what I am up to and what is to come. I will also be posting sessions so you can see my work, with the story behind it.

Something else unique and new....I want to spotlight 1 family a month.  I will ask you to fill out a questionnaire  and write a whole story about your family and session. This family will receive a free 8x10 print of their choice from their session for participating.

I am also now working with set designer/stylists.  Most every session will be designed by them. It gives my clients a different look to their photos, aside from every other Joe Schmo out there. 2017 is the year for me to continue to be different. I am also currently looking for hair and makeup stylists!

Oh, and one more thing I am very excited about. Gracie (my daughter) has asked me to teach her to use a camera. A regular mom would say,"Sure" and whip out a camera and show her.  Nope, not me. I want to do a class. I want to have at least 10 kids come to a location of my choosing and pay a very small fee (like $10.00) and bring a camera.  I will give them photography tips, maybe have them pose for each other, and even show them how to edit. I will even print one photo of their choosing for them to keep. This will most likely occur of summer vacation. Just something fun for them to do!

I am so excited about this year to come. I wouldn't be where I am today if it were not for my clients.

You guys are the best.  Hands down.

I have my " original groupies" that have been with me since day 1 and I have my "new groupies" that discovered me and literally have me do photos for them every other month.  I consider you guys my family. Thank you so much for believing in me.

I love meeting new families and having fun! That is my main goal.  I want you to walk away saying "that was soo much fun."

So, come on back for the next blog post. Join me in welcoming 2017 with open arms, ready for new adventures and ideas!
